<+!>SWUG Meets in California.<-!> July brought a widget revival to California. From San Francisco to San Diego, thousands of widget users gathered to share stories, ideas and dreams. The Self-replicating Widgets Users Group (SWUG) estimates nearly 10,000
members joined in the festivities. Joe Gadget, President of Widgets and Gadgets, stated, "Golly, there were so many people that I thought maybe we had self-replicating users instead of self-replicating widgets!"
Not since Woodstock have so many free-spirited people gathered together in one place. Rumours suggested next year's event will be dubbed "Widgetstock". "That will just confuse the investment community," proclaimed Penny Wise, a stock broker from New York.
<+!>Widgeteers in Dizzyland.<-!> On a recent visit to a popular Southern California theme park, Fran Franklin of Widgets and Gadgets noticed there were, "widgets, widgets everywhere". Franklin suggests, "People were wearing widgets on their heads. I call
them widgeteers. The whole experience left me breathless!"
When asked what she would do after the interview, Franklin said, "I'm going to Dizzyland!"
